RE: More bad press. How stupid can people be?

If you read the full article, you'd see the father let the 2 year old fire a .22 caliber gun earlier. If it hadn't been for the accident, what was next.........base jumping?

More bad press. How stupid can people be?

This is just wrong on so many fronts. -------------------------------------------------------------- Union, Mo. — The father of a 2-year-old who died in a weekend ATV crash said he looked down to check a text message while the boy somehow pushed the throttle, prompting the dad to fall off the vehicle before the toddler sustained fatal injuries. Jackson Moore, 2, of Eureka was riding on a slow-moving all-terrain vehicle that his father, Nicholas Moore, 29, was driving Saturday through a wooded area of Franklin County. Moore told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch in Monday's edition that he had his son in his lap, and was traveling at a speed that allowed his brother Tony, a paramedic, to walk alongside them. The father said he looked at his cell phone and then tumbled to the ground, apparently when the child hit the throttle before the ATV ran into a tree. "He was out of sight and I heard the boom," said Nicholas Moore. "I don't know how he held on." The child was not wearing a helmet. Full story.

RE: Recalls on 2008 KTM 450XC and 525XC

Yeah, its pretty minor really. Its not like you have antifreeze corroding the bejesus out of clutch covers and clogging up the cooling system, or frames cracking.

RE: Recalls on 2008 KTM 450XC and 525XC

*insert obligatory "a $11,000 machine is not suppose to break arguement At least they are correcting it instead of just letting it slide. The $11,000.00 price tag includes a built in $1500.00 "oops, we phucked it up" recall slush fund.

RE: Bring him back!

Dont start with me brad. I dont want any trouble. Did you ever get something to ride?Had an '06 Raptor 700 50th anniversary for a while, but got rid of it. No sweat Brad, you know damned well its the same old story with Justin (Kodiak). Just like the Rincon and Kodiak they had at the house, the YFZ also belongs to Daddy, not him.

RE: Do ute riders have a worse public image then sport riders?

We have a lot of sport riders around here withj super loud pipes. Those same people seem to find neccessity in riding 40MPH wheelies down the middle of the streets for all to see. DHart is right. They come in all shapes and forms, but I'd say the sport riders take the most hated award around here. As for the beer, I've seen sport riders drinking em too, but not while riding, cuz they have to clutch. Also, the ute guy carries the beer most of the time, as he has the storage to do so.

RE: 2009 Trips

Hey trailhouseowner, are there any RV parks in Gilbert? I have a 5th wheel 34 footer, and I'd consider taking it down there. I'd be looking for a 50 amp hookup with full water and sewage.

RE: 2009 Trips

Seeing that Matewan is all but a ghost town, of course Gilbert has more lodging options. I thought the Matewan history was intriguing, and took a shot at the Bed n Breakfast. We were not disappointed. Flipped my Rincon over backwards trying to go up the backside of a big hill on Browning Fork (black diamond side trail). This was a painful reminder that rocks are hard. Other than a few black diamond spots between Gilbert and Man, I found the riding on Browning Fork almost too leisurely. This is my basis for my praise of the Buffalo Mt trail. I'd like to check out more of the system next time down there. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/cchagros/Picture012-1.jpg Look familiar? Getting to this rock required a pretty steep climb. The two others with me chickened out and went around. Shame some jerk had to spray graffiti on the rock. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/cchagros/Picture004-1.jpg More Rockhouse http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v696/cchagros/Picture028.jpg Historic Matewan Bed & Breakfast

RE: 2009 Trips

Matewan Bed n Breakfast and the Buffalo Mountain Trail....hard to beat. Its only a short drive over to Gilbert too. I think Rincon-newby will concur. I was there in 2004, and hope to get back there this fall.

RE: Gade vs AC 1000

I am possibly eyeing a Gade 800R for next fall. CC I would recomend you ride one first to see if you like the suspension. Handling and suspension can be overly harsh, compared to the outlander 800 the Renegade rides like a saddle thrown over a saw horse. (reminds me of the 400ex i had) The power is great and it cuts nice but for all day riding the constant jarring can be a chore. I may switch to a Camo Outlander 800xt for next winter if all things go well for me this year financially. I miss the comfort of the big utilities, at 40 yrs old i dont need to come in first anymore. :) CC i dont know if that was the R in the vid or not, sorry. Happy New Year everyone! Oh yeah! A belated Happy Birthday from someone who also turned 40 this year. Thatnks for the advice on the Renegade. I don't know what you weigh, but I run areound 265ish. I wonder if the extra weight is enough to soften things up.

RE: Gade vs AC 1000

Hey 30, do you know if that was a Gade 800, or a new Gade 800R? Reason I ask is power is up this year.

RE: A cheaper alternative to a helmet cam....

Seems like a must-have IMO. I'm gonna try to have one in time for Warrior Kid's visit to NH later this month.

RE: KTM vs. _________

Maybe you should go back to basics and mod up another Blaster, cuz a guy like Drummer would probably clean your frikken KTM riding clock with his lowly YFZ. Much obliged. Okay blaster, lets put the price tag on your ktm VS. my yfz. 4K for my bike. +$1400 for the front end. +$500 for the swingarm +$400 for the axle. +$200 for bars/accesories. +750 for the motor, piston, crank +$400 in hard parts. +$800 tires/rims. More than likely, I left something out, but let's add up. That come's out to $8450. + a rear shock, and head work, I'll end up around $10,000. That's a full blown motocross bike, 58-60hp, suspension all the way around. Let's the price tag on yours including price of the bike and all parts added up. Drummer, you forgot two things. If I remember correctly, you spent $500 on the swingarm because the old one cracked, correct? The other thing you forgot is the satisfaction most get from customizing their quads to exactly suit their needs. That, IMO, is priceless. When you show a friend what you have done to the beastie, you get to experience the pride factor. For over 11K, the other guy admits his suspension needs to be retuned to his weight, and the first thing he did was throw a Hindle pipe on it. Whether he paid for the pipe or not makes no difference. At some point, he wanted for more power...and he will want again, mark my words. Is the KTM technically race ready? Yes, but theres not one serious racer that won't be pouring money into upgrades, whether it be to the mill, or the suspension. Add those upgrades to the selling price, and its a VERY expensive quad. In the states, you can buy 2 YFZs for the price of one 450SX, give or take a few bucks. That extra cash means a TON of upgrades, and the satisfaction of customizing a quad to exactly what you want. I think the SX is one hell of a machine, but when I see guys like Drummer and Wolvie posting pics of their most recent mods, it shows me yet another source of joy in owning an ATV. Ever see Chip Foose build up or restore a car? To me, the process is more intriguing than the result by far.

Damn close, eh Chris? Happy Holidays buddy. Hope you and the family had nothing but good times. I am possibly eyeing a Gade 800R for next fall.

How long will it take? Will the others catch on?

For years, the Wolverine and Scrambler stood alone. Enter the Renegades. How long before the other manufacturers come to the realization that this segment of ATVs has a ton of potential, and is becoming more popular by the day? Will they allow Yamaha and Can Am to corner the market, or will they join in the fun at some point? I think if they all enter this market, it will force yet another ATV segment to vastly improve in all aspects.....power, weight, suspension, overall performance. Imagine a Renegade slimmed down to around 500 pounds by using lightweight materials. I think we will see this sooner than later, if the other manufacturers have any sense of whats hot. Honda, of course, will be the last to cross the line and participate.

RE: Robbie Madison's 100ft step up and 100ft step down

I guess Robbie Kinevel did a lame jump in LV, saw it on youtube, what a looser still riding daddys coattails. Agreed. The dudes a mess. Having said that, the old man wasn't the most skilled chap ever to ride a bike either, but he was certainly crazier than most, and a master at marketing.

My New Years Resolution is to live healthier, ride more, and create more interesting threads on the Forum. I also wouldn't mind gettin a riding pic in the magazine, but thats secondary.

RE: Robbie Madison's 100ft step up and 100ft step down

In the interview with Robbie after the stunt, he said he thought he was all done, as he slightly overshot the downramp. You can see how low he actually hit it in the video.
